Renee Foster - Her experience at The CLUB with Personal Training
Not being a native to the Naugatuck area, I was searching for a gym that was comparatively priced to their low price, overcrowded competitor Planet Fitness. A few of my friends were members at The Club, and suggested I go in and have a look. As soon as I stepped into The Club, I liked the gym. It is a small gym but has everything that is needed to facilitate a variety of workouts. The gym is also kept very clean and the workers are very friendly and willing to assist when asked for help.
When I first started working out I was someone who went straight to the elliptical, and workout on there for an hour and go home. I was getting frustrated when I wasn’t getting the weight loss results I was looking for. I inquired at the front desk about setting up personal training session with one of the skilled trainers that The Club employs. I was assigned to be Mikes’ client from that point forward. He took time with me to go through what my goals were so that we were on the same page. Mike is a great trainer, he taught me that working out isn’t just about going on the elliptical and thinking that is enough, strength training is needed as well. Training with Mike is great because he pushes me to go that little extra that I normally wouldn’t push myself to do on my own. The workout is different every time, hitting all the areas of my body that I wanted to work on. I enjoyed training so much with Mike and have seen good results, that I joined his boot camp sessions 3 times a week as well. Mike has also taken the time to write out workouts for me so that I can get a good workout on the days that I do not train with him. Mike has motivated me and given me confidence to make myself better but pushing through the pain to achieve my goals.
Overall my experience with The Club and the trainers has been nothing but positive. I would recommend The Club to anyone who asks my opinion.

I’ve been a member at The Club for years. After many boring, not so motivational, and very impersonal experiences at “the gym that should not be named”, I decided I wasn’t getting my money’s worth. Since I’ve been at The Club it’s so much more personal, everyone is friendly and pushes you to do your best. If it’s been a few days since you’ve been in you can bet Joe or Mike will be there at the door saying “where you been”, they never let you slack! I felt I needed a little more motivation and a new and fresh work-out routine so I decided to try personal training with Mike. He sat down with me and together we went over how I work out and what I wanted out of my workouts. Having been a prior collegiate athlete I love high intensity, pushing me to my max workouts, and that’s exactly what I get from mike every time. He knows my limits and pushes me to them, no excuses. My workouts are fresh and interesting, a far cry from the boring elliptical and couple sets of weights I used to do. The workouts are always changing, from doing pushup and weights, to crawling around the gym dragging a sandbag, I always leave there exhausted but proud of myself. Even better, I get results!

I have been training with Mike for just over a year now. I can honestly say with his help and with others from the gym I am at my lowest weight and body fat percentage ever. If you think you are going to get the normal gym routine you are wrong. You’ll use ropes, tires, boxes, anything he can get his hands on. So every time you are headed to the gym to workout you never know what he is going to throw at you. You will never do the same routine twice in a month. The pace is non-stop and you don’t realize how tired you are until you’re done with the workout. If you are looking for a group type atmosphere then Mike also runs a boot camp three times a week. Boot camp is a great way to keep pushing because there are about 20 other people in the same boat as you so you push each other to get better. You’ll play tug of war, relay races, up-downs, sprints, and many others. You will never get bored and just when you think you can’t do anything else Mike will push you that much harder. Like I said at the beginning, I am the smallest I have been in years and I could not have gotten here without the help from Mike. Anyone who is curious should try it out. I did and now I am hooked. So do I suggest joining the club and working out yes. It is clean, friendly, and everyone that works there is always willing to help or answer questions. Just stop by and take a look around. What do you have to lose.

I have been a member of The Club for almost 3 years. New to the area, I spotted it while shopping at Stop & Shop one day. I called and made an appointment to sign up! I was impressed with the professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Joe, the owner, noticed me one day and came up to me to introduce himself and from that day forward, he has always greeted me by name. I inquired about personal training in October and Joe told me someone would be calling me. Mike called me within an hour and we set up a session. Mike sat down with me and asked me what my goals were. I am not overweight (I am blessed with a great metabolism), but I wanted to put on weight the healthy way as I thought I was looking too skinny! I signed up for a year to train with Mike and over the past 7 months, I have put on weight (muscle), increased my endurance and strength and my body looks great!! I weighed about 110 lbs when I joined -actually, maybe a little less and I now weigh in at 115 and am proud to say I can now do squats at 135 pounds!!! While I have never worked with a personal trainer before, Mike is great. He pushes my limits because he knows I can do it, even when I feel I can't. He kicks my a** with workouts similar to boot camps and while I sometimes complain the whole way through it, I feel great after all is said and done. Mike wants for me what I want for myself and has helped me in achieving my goals! Thanks Mike!
